Antec Notebook Cooler To Go

Antec has a plethora of cooling devices ranging right from CPU coolers to notebook coolers. Antec Notebook Cooler To Go is one such cooling device that aims at cooling your laptop but saving some precious space too. Most of the notebook coolers that you would find occupy almost the whole of the bottom of the space of the laptop, but this one is just half of those.

Antec Notebook Cooler To Go specifications :

  • Dimensions : 10″ x 4″ x 1.25″
  • USB powered
  • 2 quiet double-ball bearing fans
  • Low power consumption
  • Light weight
  • Two speed fan speed control
  • Approx. price : $25

The Antec Notebook Cooler To Go is the smaller version of their original notebook cooler and the fan size has increased from 70mm to 80mm. The notebook cooler is light-weight, which makes it easy to carry around. The cooler has a switch to control the speeds of the fan between the two levels. The laptop cooler uses a USB-pass through port, hence it does not compromise you on already limited number of USB ports on the laptop.

The cooler is not placed entirely under the laptop. It is placed under the rear of the laptop just a bit to make it elevated. The rubber feet on the cooler make your laptop stable. The cooling mechanism is designed such as to pull cool air from the surrounding and pass it to the bottom of the laptop to cool it down. The speed of the fans are pegged at 1350rpm and 1800rpm for the two levels. The noise on the laptop is fairly low, hovering between 23-27dB.

The laptop cooler manages to cool the processor effectively as the vents of most laptops are generally at the back rather than side, so it blows away the hot air quickly. But the hard drive temperature is not reduced by much as the cool air is blown quite far from it to have a big impact. It is very important to check where you have your CPU heat vents on laptop, before buying not just this but any laptop cooler.

Pros :

  • Small
  • Light-weight
  • Portable
  • Active-cooling
  • Not noisy
  • Cools CPU effectively

Cons :

  • Hard disk not cooled effectively
  • Relatively small cord

Final Thoughts

The Antec notebook cooler To Go is an overall good performer and coupled with its light weight and small dimensions, it certainly is worthy of it low price tag. If CPU heating is your main concern, then buy this.

My Rating : 3.5/5
