I have a Western Digital 120 GB external USB harddisk having very valueable data.Suddenly it is not detecting. While connecting I get the message of found new hardware but it is not showing in my computer. any software to retrieve the data, please help me.

Have you tried inserting the external HDD in another computer? What OS do you run? Try using the external HDD in another PC / OS. There isn’t much you can do except that. Try running an antivirus scan on your computer. It’s possibly some virus which blocks your mass storage devices, there are lots of them in circulation these days.
